Strategy for ' History' Part- 1

Guys, pick any paper of CAPF assistant Commandant, You will find a greater portion of questions being asked from the ' History' section. I love this subject very much and this is the mains reason behind my success and my score in written exam.
So lets first divide it in four section. firstly, when we talk about ' Ancient India', every year questions were asked from it. the nature of questions are related to ancient literature,Ashoka's inscriptions administration of Mauryans, Indo Greeks, Guptas, Harsha, Cholas etc, Budhism and Jainism, Gandhar and Mathura style, Stupas, Temple architecture, Society in different periods and at last some facts.
So, what will be the source for this section. I will recommend the old ncert of class 11th written by R.S. Sharma. This books covers almost all things.
Now, what will be the strategy for Ancient India. It can be discussed in following points-

1- Make a list of all ancient literature. You can take the help of internet in that. After that divide it according to the era, like Arthashastra, Mudrarakshash, Indica are of the Mauryas, Raghuvansham, Devichandraguptam, Swapnavasavdattam, etc are of Guptas .... Also, have some knowledege of these books like Ashtadhyayi is written by Panini and it talks about Sanskrit Grammar and ' mahahashya' written by Patanjali is its 'Tika'.

2- Make a flowchart of the administrative structure of the different periods. It is a scientific way to memorize it. You can compare the existing administrative structure to that period and in this way it becomes easy. Like, today the P.M being the head of the administration, the same way, ' Samrat' was the hrad of the Maryan period, after that today we can see the governors in states, the same way provinces were there in Mauryan period and 'Yuvraj' ruled that..........

3- I used to compare Gandhar and MAthura style as Hollywood and Bollywood. Hollywood movies usually don't have much drama and they are realistic as the Gandhar Style of Sculpture and Bollywood movies are based on fantasy as of Mathura Style........

4- I recommend for the Arts and Culture section, Use the internet maximum and read those with the pictures. It will help to visualize them.

5- For, Ashoka's inscriptions, You have to memorize them at most. But some inscriptions are very important, like we can find his name ' Ashoka' in only Maski, Nittur, Gurjara and Udgolam inscriptions. Also, only in ' Bhrabru' inscription,he defined himself as ' King of Magadh',.....

6- Buddhism and Jainism have been the pet topics of UPSC, so the need to be taken seriously. Actually they have many facts. Some of them you will have to memorize like ,' The Buddhist Councils'. also, the literature related tro Buddha becomes important this time.

7- Indo Greeks , Shaka, Kushana were also hit topics of UPSC and many of us skip them. make the notes of some important kings and their unique works, like ' Rudradaman' whose ' Junagarh' inscription is the only inscription in pure sanskrit......

I hope this strategy will help you out as it helped me. Suggestions are welcomed.
